To achieve the legendary "silky" feel of a CarbonTex system and protect your precision brass or aluminum gears, proper lubrication is essential:

Drag Surface Treatment: Apply a very thin, translucent coating of Deuthlon Reel Grease or Cal’s Universal Drag Grease to both sides of each CarbonTex washer. This specialized grease is formulated to withstand pressure while providing a waterproof barrier that prevents "chatter" under load.

Mechanical Fluidity: Use Deuthlon Reel Oil on the spool bearings and the level-wind worm gear. For "E" series Curados and Chronarchs, fresh oil is the secret to maintaining the incredible casting distance these reels are famous for.
Installation Tip: When servicing the TE/Conquest series, take extra care with the "eared" metal washers. Ensure they are perfectly aligned with the slots in the main gear. For DC (Digital Control) models, avoid getting any grease on the electronic components during the reassembly of the side plate.
