Professional Maintenance & Lubrication
To achieve the legendary "silky" feel of a CarbonTex system and protect your precision brass or aluminum gears, proper lubrication is essential:

Drag Surface Treatment: Apply a very thin, translucent coating of Deuthlon Reel Grease or Cal’s Universal Drag Grease to both sides of each CarbonTex washer. This specialized grease prevents "chatter" and provides a waterproof barrier for the metal plates.

Mechanical Fluidity: Use Deuthlon Reel Oil on the spool bearings. For DC (Digital Control) models, maintaining high-quality oil on the spool shaft is the secret to getting the most out of the electronic braking system.
Installation Tip: When servicing the Calcutta TE 100DC or Calais 100A, use extra caution when removing the side plate to avoid disturbing the Digital Control wiring or the complex anti-reverse pawl. Ensure the "eared" metal washers are perfectly aligned with the slots in the main gear before closing the reel.
