The "US" and "HG" series utilize a more advanced drag stack than older round reels. Replacing the factory washers with CarbonTex (#SDS102 / SDX1015 series) eliminates the "stick-slip" start-up inertia that can snap light braid or pull hooks during the initial, violent surge of a big fish.

To achieve the legendary "silky" feel of a CarbonTex system and protect the Micromodule gearing of your Calcutta, proper lubrication is essential during installation:

Drag Surface Treatment: Apply a very thin, translucent coating of Cal’s Universal Drag Grease or Deuthlon Reel Grease to both sides of each CarbonTex washer. This specialized grease is engineered to stay on the carbon surface under extreme pressure, providing a waterproof barrier and preventing "chatter."

Mechanical Fluidity: Use Deuthlon Reel Oil on the spool bearings to ensure the reel operates with zero friction, maximizing your casting distance and the performance of the SVS Infinity braking system.
Installation Tip: The 2015/18 series features an "Exciting Drag Sound" (clicker) mechanism. When replacing washers, ensure the small spring and pin components are properly seated within the main gear to maintain your audible drag alert.
