Product Description
DAM Quick 110-577 Pinion Gear - SLS 5
Restore the heavy-duty cranking power of your surf reel with this genuine DAM Quick Pinion Gear.
The Pinion Gear is the high-speed workhorse of the drivetrain in your DAM Quick SLS 5. Situated on the main shaft, this robust gear meshes with the massive main drive gear to spin the rotor. As the primary transfer point for high-speed rotation in a reel designed for big game and surf casting, the pinion gear endures immense stress and torque. Over time, wear on the helical teeth can cause a rough, "coffee grinder" feel, excessive noise, or rotor instability. This authentic replacement part restores the smooth, powerful retrieval and mechanical precision required for handling heavy loads.
Product Features
-
Heavy-Duty Design: Engineered with a robust tooth profile to handle the high torque and shock loads associated with the SLS 5.
-
Precision Helical Cut: Machined to exact tolerances for a seamless mesh with the main drive gear, minimizing vibration and gear slap.
-
Model Specific: Sized perfectly for the large-frame housing and gear ratio of the DAM Quick SLS 5.
-
Durable Construction: Made from high-strength alloy to resist wear and pitting even under heavy drag pressure.
-
Restored Performance: Essential for eliminating rotor wobble and restoring the reel's original smooth operation.
Model Compatibility
This part is verified to fit the following DAM Quick spinning reel models:
-
DAM Quick SLS 5
Note: This pinion gear is unique to the largest reel in the series. It is not interchangeable with the smaller SLS 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 models.

Installation Notes
Replacing the pinion gear on the SLS 5 is a significant repair requiring disassembly of both the rotor and gearbox.
-
Remove the spool and the heavy-duty rotor nut to lift off the rotor assembly.
-
Open the side plate and remove the main shaft and main drive gear to disengage the pinion from the inside.
-
Remove the retaining screws/plate securing the pinion bearing assembly.
-
Slide the old pinion out. Recommendation: Inspect the Pinion Bearing and the Anti-Reverse Ratchet (Part #110-564) while accessible. If the pinion is worn, these mating parts often show wear as well.
-
Thoroughly clean the housing to remove any salt buildup, old grease, or metal shavings.
-
Apply a generous amount of high-quality reel grease to the teeth of the new 110-577 pinion.
-
Install the new pinion, ensuring smooth rotation in the bearing before completing reassembly.
