The Metanium is defined by its magnesium "CoreSolid" body and ultra-lightweight handling. While the factory "Cross Carbon" drag is respectable, upgrading to CarbonTex offers a more consistent, linear pressure curve and virtually eliminates start-up inertia. This ensures your drag remains silky-smooth when a trophy bass or light saltwater predator first bolts, protecting thin-diameter fluorocarbon and preventing pulled hooks.

Professional Maintenance & Lubrication
To achieve the legendary "silky" feel of a CarbonTex system and protect the precision MicroModule gearing of your Metanium, proper lubrication is essential during installation:

Drag Surface Treatment: Apply an extremely thin, translucent coating of Deuthlon Reel Grease or Cal’s Universal Tan Grease to both sides of each CarbonTex washer. This specialized grease prevents "chatter" and provides a waterproof barrier for the metal plates.

Mechanical Fluidity: Use Deuthlon Reel Oil on the spool bearings. For the Metanium, high-quality, low-viscosity oil is the secret to maintaining the effortless casting of the Magnumlite (MGL) spool.
