This meticulously engineered upgrade completely modernizes your levelwind system, delivering a level of smoothness and casting performance you never thought possible.
The secret lies in the dual ball bearing support for the worm shaft. Significantly farther casts, smoother retrieves, and a levelwind system that feels like it's moving on silk.
We haven't stopped there. The kit also includes a black anodized aluminum body for enhanced durability and a Titanium Line Guide that can handle the rigors of both braided and monofilament lines. Say goodbye to premature wear and hello to years of reliable performance.
For the ultimate in smoothness and wear resistance, you can even choose to upgrade to our optional CERAMIC line guide pawl. Anglers who have tried it rave about the incredibly fluid feel and the increased lifespan, even in harsh, sandy conditions.

This is a pretty great upgrade
This is a pretty great upgrade, but wanted to write a tip for those with newer abus. My C3 came stock with one bearing in the level wind at the skinny end of the worm gear. If you have one like this you might want to look into getting only the worm gear in this kit plus the ceramic pawl (if you're in to that). You won't actually need the other bearing in the kit and the stock line guide and worm shaft on the reel work just fine so you won't need those either. I even kept the stock line guide on my reel because it is much lighter in weight and seems to perform better. Can't say anything about upgrading the older abus. Also a shout out to Melanie in customer service and whoever else helped on my order for being awesome. If interested, you should look into getting a 6500 series side plate and clicker plate to add a bait clicker to your 4600 or 5500 series Originally posted March 29, 2015

A++++
I have installed this bearing worm kit on several reels 5600c the older 80 model and a few other reel updates from Mikes and the reels I have redone are unbelieveable smooth and fast. I prefer them over the new Revo I got for Christmas last year. A++++ Originally posted Oct4, 2009

I river fish with my ambassadeur reels.
I river fish with my ambassadeur reels. I have a 7000, 6000, 5000, and a 6600cl. We took out the brakes to increase casting distance. I upgraded the 6000 with the new worm gear kit. My son took it out fishing, when He came back he informed me, that we would have to reinstall the brakes, since he could not slow it down. The reel is much smoother and casts farther.
