Keep your level wind tracking perfectly with this genuine DAM Quick Line Guide Pawl (Part No. 145-774). Also known as the Level Wind Pawl or Tracking Tooth, this small but vital component acts as the "navigator" for your reel's line distribution system.
Seated inside the carrying piece, the pawl's blade rides within the grooves of the worm gear (infinity screw). As the worm gear spins, the pawl directs the line guide back and forth across the spool. Because it is a designated wear item, the pawl is designed to soften the contact friction to protect the more expensive worm gear. If your line guide is sticking, skipping, or stacking line in one spot, a worn pawl is the most likely culprit.
