Product Description
DAM Quick 110-580 Oscillation Gear - SLS 5
Restore the precise line lay and heavy-duty lifting power of your surf reel with this genuine DAM Quick Oscillation Gear.
The Oscillation Gear is the central component of the line management system in your massive DAM Quick SLS 5. Driven by the main gearing, this robust gear rotates to drive the oscillation slider, which pushes the main shaft and heavy spool up and down. On a reel of this size, the oscillation gear is under constant stress from the weight of the spool and the drag of the line. If you are experiencing uneven line stacking (coning), a "knocking" sound during the retrieve, or if the spool stalls under load, a worn oscillation gear—specifically the tracking pin—is the likely culprit. This authentic replacement part restores the powerful, consistent stroke required for surf fishing.
Product Features
-
Reinforced Design: Engineered with a heavy-duty tracking pin to manage the substantial weight of the SLS 5 spool assembly.
-
Precision Timing: Gear teeth are cut to the exact ratio required for the SLS 5, ensuring the spool stroke is perfectly synchronized with the rotor.
-
Durable Construction: Made from high-strength alloy to resist wear and deformation during long battles with heavy fish.
-
Restored Line Management: Essential for correcting "hourglass" line shapes and ensuring smooth line payout during casts.
Model Compatibility
This part is verified to fit the following DAM Quick spinning reel models:
-
DAM Quick SLS 5
Note: This oscillation gear is unique to the largest reel in the series. It is not interchangeable with the smaller SLS 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 models.

Installation Notes
Replacing the oscillation gear on the SLS 5 requires a complete teardown of the gearbox.
-
Remove the spool, rotor, handle, and side plate to access the internals.
-
Remove the heavy-duty main drive gear and the main shaft.
-
Remove the Oscillation Slider (Part #110-518) to expose the gear underneath.
-
Lift out the old oscillation gear. Cleaning is Critical: The SLS 5 is often used in sandy/salt environments; thoroughly clean the gear post and surrounding body cavity of any grit or old grease.
-
Apply a generous coating of marine-grade reel grease to the teeth of the new 110-580 gear and the tracking pin.
-
Install the new gear, replace the slider, and manually turn the pinion gear to verify the smooth vertical motion of the assembly before sealing the reel.
