Product Description
DAM Quick 110-579 Oscillation Gear - SLS 4
Restore flawless line distribution and smooth spool travel with this genuine DAM Quick Oscillation Gear.
The Oscillation Gear (often referred to as the crosswind gear) is the mechanical heart of the line lay system in your DAM Quick SLS 4. Driven by the reel's drivetrain, this gear rotates to push the oscillation slider (traverse block) up and down, cycling the main shaft. When this gear wears out—typically at the tracking pin or the gear teeth—it results in uneven line stacking (coning), "clunking" noises at the top or bottom of the stroke, or a spool that fails to move entirely. This authentic replacement part restores the precise, consistent spool stroke needed for maximizing casting distance and preventing wind knots.
Product Features
-
Heavy-Duty Tracking: Features a reinforced tracking pin designed to drive the larger slider block of the SLS 4 without flexing.
-
Precise Geometry: Gear teeth are cut to the exact pitch required to mesh with the pinion drive, ensuring smooth, silent rotation.
-
Durable Alloy: Constructed from wear-resistant metal to withstand the friction and load of moving the heavy spool assembly.
-
Restored Performance: Essential for correcting "hourglass" or irregular line shapes on the spool.
Model Compatibility
This part is verified to fit the following DAM Quick spinning reel models:
-
DAM Quick SLS 4
Note: This oscillation gear is engineered specifically for the SLS 4 frame. It is not interchangeable with the smaller SLS 3 (Part #110-578) or the larger SLS 5 due to differences in diameter and throw length.

Installation Notes
Replacing the oscillation gear involves a deep disassembly of the gearbox.
-
Remove the spool, rotor, handle, and side plate.
-
Remove the main drive gear and the main shaft to uncover the oscillation system.
-
Remove the Oscillation Slider (often Part #110-517 for the SLS 4) to reveal the gear beneath it.
-
Lift out the old oscillation gear. Cleaning Step: Thoroughly clean the post or bushing the gear sits on to remove old, hardened grease or grit.
-
Apply a moderate coating of reel grease to the teeth of the new 110-579 gear and specifically to the tracking pin that engages the slider groove.
-
Install the new gear, re-seat the slider, and turn the pinion gear by hand to verify smooth up-and-down motion before reassembling the rest of the reel.
