Product Description
DAM Quick 110-564 Ratchet - SLS 5
Restore the heavy-duty stopping power of your surf reel with this genuine DAM Quick Ratchet Gear.
The ratchet gear (also known as the anti-reverse ratchet or cog) is the mechanical anchor of your reel's stopping system. Designed for the massive DAM Quick SLS 5, this toothed gear is mounted on the pinion shaft and engages with the anti-reverse pawl to prevent the handle from spinning backward under load. In a reel built for surf casting and big game, this component endures immense stress during hook sets. If your anti-reverse is slipping, making grinding noises, or failing to hold, worn or sheared teeth on this ratchet are the likely cause. This authentic replacement part restores the immediate, rock-solid lock-up you need to fight large fish safely.

Installation Notes
Replacing the ratchet gear on the SLS 5 requires removing the rotor assembly.
-
Remove the spool and the heavy-duty rotor nut to slide the rotor off the reel body.
-
Locate the ratchet gear on the pinion shaft (usually situated above or below the pinion bearing housing).
-
Remove the old ratchet. Important Maintenance Tip: Always inspect the Anti-Reverse Pawl (Part #110-492) when replacing this gear. Mismatched wear between a new gear and an old pawl can lead to premature failure.
-
Clean the shaft and bearing area of any salt buildup, old grease, or metal debris.
-
Install the new 110-564 ratchet, ensuring the teeth face the correct direction to engage the pawl.
-
Reassemble the rotor and test the anti-reverse under light tension before fishing.
