Product Description
Shimano 10N6F Line Roller (RD17193) | CoreProtect Sealed Assembly
The Shimano 10N6F Line Roller (RD17193) is a specialized, high-performance component found in Shimano’s modern spinning reels equipped with CoreProtect technology. Unlike traditional line rollers that consist of several individual pieces (bearing, spacer, and roller), the 10N6F is an integrated unit.
The bearing and the roller body are sealed together at the factory to provide maximum water resistance and prevent saltwater intrusion. Because these parts are fused, the bearing cannot be removed or serviced separately; if the roller becomes noisy or stops spinning freely, the entire assembly must be replaced.

Technical Note: Some newer models (like the Stradic FL) use a different part number (RD13269 bearing + RD19455 roller). Always check your specific schematic at www.reelschematic.com before ordering, as Shimano occasionally updates these integrated designs.
Maintenance & Lubrication Recommendation
Because this is a sealed CoreProtect unit, it requires a different maintenance approach than standard open bearings. Do not use degreasers or WD-40, as they will destroy the internal factory seals.
-
After Every Use: Rinse the line roller area with cold, low-pressure fresh water to remove salt and grit.
-
Lubrication: Shimano officially recommends leaving this part "dry" on the exterior. However, for added protection in extreme saltwater, a single drop of Deuthlon Power Cast Oil on the edge of the seal can help shed water.
-
If Seized: If the roller becomes "crunchy" or develops a squeak, it cannot be cleaned out. Replacement is the only way to restore the ultra-smooth line management required for thin braided lines.
Why Use Genuine Shimano 10N6F?
-
CoreProtect Integrity: The specialized water-repellent coating on the RD17193 is designed to bead water away from the bearing gap.
-
Zero Line Twist: The precision-machined "Power Roller" shape guides line perfectly to the spool, reducing wind knots and line fray.
-
Factory Balance: As a single unit, it maintains the perfect balance of the bail arm, preventing rotor vibration during high-speed retrieves.
