Product Description
For anglers who need flexibility and performance, the Humminbird XPT 9 20 T transducer offers a powerful and portable solution for gaining a clear view of the underwater world. This versatile unit is designed for fishermen who use rental boats, kayaks, or want to easily switch their fish finder between multiple vessels without the need for a permanent installation. Combining proven sonar technology with a user-friendly design, the XPT 9 20 T is a go-to choice for reliable 2D sonar performance.
Core Features at a Glance
- Portable Suction Cup Mount: The defining feature of the XPT 9 20 T is its heavy-duty suction cup mount. This allows for quick and secure temporary installation on the transom or side of most smooth-surfaced fiberglass or aluminum boats. This makes it ideal for fly-in trips, ice fishing (when used with a portable conversion kit), and anglers who value mobility.
- DualBeam Sonar Technology: This transducer utilizes Humminbird's traditional DualBeam sonar, giving anglers two distinct views of the water column. Users can switch between a narrow, high-detail beam and a wider search beam to effectively locate structure and fish.
- Built-in Temperature Sensor: Gain a critical advantage by monitoring surface water temperature. This feature helps anglers identify thermoclines and temperature breaks where fish are often most active.
- Hydrodynamic Design: The transducer is shaped to cut efficiently through the water, providing clear sonar returns at trolling speeds. Note: Suction cup mounts are not recommended for high-speed operation.
- Generous Cable Length: A 20-foot cable provides ample length for flexible positioning of the fish finder unit anywhere in a small to medium-sized boat.
Technical Specifications and Sonar Capabilities
The XPT 9 20 T is built around Humminbird's reliable 2D sonar technology, offering a balance of detail and coverage.
- Sonar Type: Single/DualBeam
- Operating Frequencies: 83 kHz / 200 kHz
- Cone Angles (Beam Width):
- 200 kHz: A precise 20° cone angle. This narrow beam is perfect for high-detail views directly below the boat, making it excellent for pinpointing fish holding tight to structure and for accurate depth readings.
- 83 kHz: A wide 60° cone angle. This broader beam is ideal for searching large areas quickly, helping you to locate schools of baitfish and identify promising structure in a wider swath.
By combining these two beams, an angler can first use the wide 60° beam to find an area of interest and then switch to the narrow 20° beam to investigate it more closely.
Extensive Model Compatibility
One of the greatest strengths of the XPT 9 20 T is its wide-ranging compatibility with a vast number of Humminbird fish finders, both past and present. It is the perfect accessory to add portable capability to a permanently mounted unit or as a primary transducer for a portable fish finder.
The Humminbird XPT 9 20 T is compatible with the following series:
- All HELIX Series Models (except DI/SI models in their dedicated imaging modes): This includes HELIX 5, HELIX 7, HELIX 8, HELIX 9, HELIX 10, and HELIX 12 models. When connected to a Down Imaging or Side Imaging unit, the XPT 9 20 T will provide traditional 2D sonar returns.
- PiranhaMAX Models (with some exceptions): Compatible with most PiranhaMAX units, except for specific models like the PiranhaMAX 4 DI and other dedicated Down Imaging versions.
- Legacy Matrix Models: Fully compatible with the Matrix 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 27, 67, 77, 87, and 97 units.
- Legacy Numbered Series: Compatible with virtually all non-DI/SI models in the 100, 300, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, and 1100 series.
Important Note: This transducer is designed for 2D sonar only. It does not support Down Imaging, Side Imaging, or MEGA Imaging technologies. If you have a fish finder with these capabilities, the XPT 9 20 T will allow it to function as a traditional 2D sonar unit, which is still incredibly useful for finding fish and determining depth.
