Product Description
A classic piece of American fishing history. This Heddon-Winona 108FF is mechanically perfect and includes the rare original box.
Product Overview
For sale is a vintage Heddon-Winona No. 108FF, manufactured by James Heddon's Sons in Dowagiac, Michigan. This reel is famous for its distinct Art Deco styling and its unique "under-the-rod" casting design, which bridged the gap between fly fishing and baitcasting.
Finding a Winona in this mechanical condition is becoming difficult. While many surviving examples are seized or warped, this reel spins true, straight, and smooth.
Condition Report
The Reel:
-
Mechanical: Excellent. The reel is in perfect working order. The spool spins true with no wobble or rubbing—a common issue with these models that this unit does not have. The clicker/drag mechanism engages correctly.
-
Cosmetic: Good vintage condition with normal age-related patina on the metal.
The Box:
-
Condition: The original factory box is included. Please note the box is damaged/worn (see photos for details on flaps and corners). However, it is structurally intact enough to display and retains the original model graphics, adding significant collector value.

Why Buy This Reel?
The Heddon-Winona is a must-have for any serious tackle collector, particularly those interested in Michigan tackle history. It is rare to find one that is mechanically "fishable" and still accompanied by its original packaging. This is a solid upgrade for a collection or a great starting piece.
