To achieve the legendary "silky" feel of a CarbonTex system and protect the precision MicroModule or HEG gearing, proper lubrication is essential:

Drag Surface Treatment: Apply a very thin, translucent coating of Deuthlon Reel Grease or Cal’s Universal Drag Grease to both sides of each CarbonTex washer. This specialized grease prevents "chatter" and provides a waterproof barrier for the metal plates.

Mechanical Fluidity: Use Deuthlon Reel Oil on the spool bearings. For Metanium DC models, high-quality oil on the spool shaft is vital for maintaining the performance of the electronic braking system.
Installation Tip: When servicing the Curado 300 series, pay close attention to the order of the metal washers. Because these reels generate significant drag pressure, ensuring the metal plates are perfectly flat and free of old, burnt grease is critical for the new carbon washers to perform at their peak.
