Drag Surface Treatment: Apply an extremely thin, almost translucent coating of Deuthlon Reel Grease to both sides of each CarbonTex washer. This specialized grease is formulated to withstand pressure while providing a waterproof barrier that prevents "chatter."

Mechanical Fluidity: Use Deuthlon Reel Oil on the spool bearings and the level-wind worm gear. On these small reels, high-quality oil is the secret to maintaining the effortless casting distance they are known for.
Small Reel Tip: When servicing the Calcutta 50 series, check the small tension washers (Belleville washers) under the star drag. Ensure they are clean and stacked in the correct "opposing" orientation ( ) to provide the proper spring tension against your new carbon washers.
