To achieve the legendary "silky" feel of a CarbonTex system and protect your brass or aluminum gears, proper lubrication is essential:

Drag Surface Treatment: Apply a very thin, translucent coating of Deuthlon Reel Grease to both sides of each CarbonTex washer. This specialized grease is formulated to withstand pressure while providing a waterproof barrier that prevents "chatter" under load.

Mechanical Fluidity: Use Deuthlon Reel Oil on the spool bearings and the level-wind worm gear. For older "Green Curado" or "Gold Calcutta" models, fresh oil is the key to maintaining their famous casting distance.
Installation Tip: Before installing, use a high-quality degreaser or isopropyl alcohol to remove old, hardened "green" factory grease from the metal drag plates. Ensuring the metal surfaces are clean and flat is vital for the CarbonTex material to perform at its peak.
