Maintenance & Lubrication
The clutch body and the bearing it houses are some of the most sensitive parts of a disc-drag reel. Excess grease in this area is a common cause of "slipping" anti-reverse. We recommend using Deuthlon high-performance lubricants:

Housing Seat: Apply a very light film of Deuthlon Power Grease to the outside of the clutch body where it seats into the drag housing. This prevents it from seizing and makes future removal easier.

Clutch Performance: Do not pack the inside of the clutch body with heavy grease. Instead, use 1-2 drops of Deuthlon Reel Gear Oil on the internal rollers. This specialized oil is thin enough to allow the rollers to engage the spindle instantly while providing a polarized barrier against corrosion.
