Product Description
SHIMANO 108BD DRAG CONTROL LEVER ASSY (TGT1559)
The Command Center of Your Talica
The Shimano 108BD Drag Control Lever Assembly (Part No. TGT1559) is the complete external lever mechanism used to engage and adjust the drag on the Shimano Talica II (2-Speed) series. This assembly serves as the interface between the angler and the reel's drag cam, translating the lever's arc into precise drag pressure.
As the primary touchpoint for fighting a fish, this lever is subjected to constant use and exposure. Common reasons for replacement include impact damage (bending the arm if the reel is dropped) or wear on the internal cam surfaces, which can cause the drag to feel "loose" or fail to lock firmly into the Strike position.

Installation Tip:
-
The Preset Assembly: The drag lever is held in place by the Preset Knob assembly. When removing the old lever, be extremely careful with the Preset Spring and Click Pin located inside the knob housing—they are under tension and prone to flying out.
-
Friction Washer: Ensure the Lever Friction Washer (a thin Teflon or plastic washer between the lever and the side plate) is clean and lightly greased. This ensures the lever moves smoothly without scratching the reel body.
-
Calibration: After installation, you must reset your drag at the "Strike" position using a scale before fishing, as the new lever may sit slightly differently on the cam than the old one.
