Product Description
SHIMANO 105GW IDLE GEAR (B) (BNT1301)
Drive Your Level Wind System
The Shimano 105GW Idle Gear (B) (Part No. BNT1301) is a genuine OEM white plastic gear found in the level wind drive train of classic Shimano baitcasting reels. This gear serves as the intermediate connection between the drive shaft gear and the worm shaft gear. It transfers the rotation of the handle to the worm shaft, causing the line guide to move back and forth.
If your level wind has stopped moving but the handle still turns, or if you hear a "clicking" sound coming from the non-handle side, this gear is often the culprit. As a "sacrificial" part designed to fail before more expensive metal gears, its teeth can strip under heavy load or if debris enters the worm shaft. Replacing it is a standard repair to restore line lay function.

Installation Tip: This gear spins on a small post and is typically held in place by a washer and an E-Clip (often BNT0032). When installing, ensure the area is clean of broken plastic teeth from the old gear. Apply a light coating of reel grease (like Shimano Permalub) to the teeth, but do not over-grease, as this can trap dirt.
