Product Description
SHIMANO 105C8 BALL BEARING (TGT0584 & RD 8214)
The "Workhorse" 5x11x4 Bearing
The Shimano 105C8 Ball Bearing (Part No. TGT0584 or RD 8214) is arguably the most common bearing size in the entire Shimano catalog. Measuring 5x11x4mm, this stainless steel bearing is a "jack of all trades," found supporting the drive shaft, pinion gear, or handle knob in hundreds of reel models ranging from ultralight spinning reels to heavy-duty saltwater lever drags.
Because it is used in high-stress locations (like the base of the drive shaft), this bearing is often the first to become "gritty" or corroded after saltwater use. Replacing it is a standard maintenance step that instantly restores the smooth rotation and stability of your reel's handle and gear train.

Installation Tip: When replacing the Drive Shaft Bearing (at the bottom of the handle shaft) on a baitcaster, this bearing is often stuck inside the frame due to corrosion. If it doesn't drop out easily, use a small bearing puller or gently heat the frame (if metal) to expand the aluminum housing. Do not hammer the shaft, as this can damage the level wind gear below.
