For these high-speed casting reels, we strongly recommend a "wet drag" setup to ensure maximum smoothness and internal protection:

Deuthlon Reel Grease: Apply an ultra-thin, translucent coating of Deuthlon Reel Grease (or Cal’s Universal Grease) to both sides of each Carbontex washer. This specialized PTFE-based grease prevents "chatter" and creates a waterproof barrier for your metal drive washers.

Drive Washer Inspection: Check your stainless steel drive washers for any signs of heat-warping or salt pitting. If they aren't perfectly flat and polished, they will compromise the smoothness of your new carbon washers.
