The "C5" designation indicates it is equipped with five high-quality ball bearings (including the specialized spool bearings and anti-reverse), providing an exceptionally smooth retrieve. The 16 01 revision is noted for its synchronized levelwind and the external magnetic adjustment slider, which allows for fine-tuned casting control against wind and varying lure weights.

To preserve the ultra-smooth C5 rotation and the sensitivity of the Mag-X system, we recommend a precision service using Deuthlon Reel Grease and Deuthlon Reel Oil.

Step 1: Disassembly and Mag-X Inspection

Begin by unscrewing the three knurled thumb screws on the right side plate. Remove the plate assembly to access the drive bridge.

Step 2: Precision Cleaning and Degreasing

To restore the reel's high-speed potential, all aged lubricants must be stripped to allow the new synthetics to bond correctly.

• Internal Gears: Submerge the brass main gear and the stainless/brass pinion in a cleaning solvent. Use a soft brush to clear the teeth of all residue.

• Levelwind & Idlers: Clean the worm shaft and the white plastic idler gears. Ensure the idler posts are polished and free of grit, as these support the synchronized levelwind during high-speed casts.

Step 3: High-Torque Gear Lubrication

The 5600C5 depends on its gear set to provide silent, powerful cranking under load.

• Main and Pinion Gears: Apply a thin, even coat of Deuthlon Reel Grease to the gear teeth. This grease creates a high-film-strength barrier that cushions metal-on-metal contact, preventing "gear chatter" and ensuring the reel feels solid and silent even when winching in heavy lures or fighting fish.

Step 4: Levelwind and Idler System Service (Kinetic)

Because the levelwind is synchronized and moves during the cast, mechanical drag in the line guide is the primary enemy of casting distance.

• Worm Shaft (Levelwind): Apply Deuthlon Reel Oil to the grooves of the worm shaft. Oil provides a much faster surface than grease, allowing the line guide to track across the frame with minimal parasitic drag.

• Idler Gears: These gears bridge the spool and the levelwind. Apply Deuthlon Reel Oil to the idler gears and their mounting posts. Using oil here instead of grease significantly lowers start-up inertia, a critical step for a C5-class reel.

Step 5: Bearing Optimization and Reassembly

The spool bearings are the heart of the C5's performance.

1. Bearing Service: Apply exactly one drop of Deuthlon Reel Oil to each cleaned spool bearing. Its "Dust-Free" formula repels micro-contaminants, ensuring the bearings stay fast and quiet.

2. Reassembly: Slide the spool back into the frame. Align the side plate assembly and secure the thumb screws.

    

    

3. Final Calibration: Adjust the external Mag-X slider. It should move smoothly from minimum to maximum. Tighten the mechanical tension knob until spool side-play just disappears.
