Phase 1: Disassembly and Inspection

Regular service prevents the buildup of grit and oxidized grease, which can lead to premature gear wear and a reduction in casting distance.

1. Removing the Side Plate: Loosen the three captive thumb screws on the left-side (handle) plate. Carefully pull the plate assembly away from the frame to reveal the internal drive system.
