Reels from 1976 often suffer from "lubricant calcification," where original petroleum greases have hardened into a waxy residue. To restore the legendary "Swedish Whirr" and protect the vintage metal alloys, a full service using Deuthlon Reel Grease and Deuthlon Reel Oil is the professional standard.

Phase 1: Vintage Teardown and Deep Cleaning

At nearly 50 years old, this reel requires a clinical cleaning to ensure the high-precision bearings and gear teeth are free of microscopic oxidation.

1. Side Plate Extraction: Unscrew the three knurled thumb screws. Carefully remove the handle-side plate. Note that the mechanical anti-reverse dog in this era is a separate copper-spring-loaded piece; ensure it is not lost.

Phase 3: Reassembly and Calibration

1. Rebuild the Bridge: Place the main gear and drag washers back on the drive shaft. Ensure the anti-reverse dog is properly "clawed" around the ratchet gear before closing the case.

2. Seat the Spool: Slide the spool back into the frame. Ensure the centrifugal brake weights are retracted so the side plate sits perfectly flush.

3. Mechanical Tension: Tighten the thumb screws. Adjust the cast control knob (on the handle side) until the side-to-side play of the spool just disappears.
