Ambassadeur 4007LP (14-00)
Loading Schematic Pages...
The Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 4007LP (14-00) is a high-performance, low-profile (LP) baitcasting reel that blends the classic Ambassadeur reliability with modern, ergonomic design. The "(14-00)" designation identifies the specific revision and production series (circa 2014), making it a refined tool for bass and light-to-medium freshwater applications.
Distinct from the round Ambassadeur reels, this low-profile model is designed for high speed and precision casting, featuring the Smart Mag magnetic braking system and an impressive 7-bearing array. To maintain its speed and sensitive drag, this guide utilizes Deuthlon Reel Grease and Deuthlon Reel Oil.
Key Specifications
-
Frame: Lightweight aluminum frame and side plates for rigidity and corrosion resistance.
-
Bearings: 7 stainless steel ball bearings for ultra-smooth operation.
-
Braking System: Patented Smart Mag Magnetic Brake for effortless, back-lash-free casting.
-
Special Features: Includes a Flipping Switch, precision drag click adjustment, and an ergonomic bent handle.
Maintenance & Care Guide
Phase 1: Disassembly & Cleaning
-
Remove Spool: Loosen the spool tension knob and release the palm-side plate locking mechanism (usually a lever on the underside). Slide the side plate off and pull the spool out.
-
Handle & Drag: Remove the handle nut cap and the 10mm handle nut. Remove the handle, the star drag, and the two Belleville spring washers. Note: Reinstall the spring washers back-to-back ( ) for a smooth drag curve.
-
Degreasing: Wipe away all old, contaminated factory grease from the internal frame and gear housing using a lint-free cloth and a light solvent.
Phase 2: Lubricating the Drive Train
-
Main Gear & Pinion: Apply a light, uniform coat of Deuthlon Reel Grease to the brass gear teeth. This grease is specifically engineered to reduce the "chatter" of high-speed gears and provide a buttery-smooth retrieve even under the load of a heavy fish.
-
Clutch & Flipping Switch: Apply a tiny dab of grease to the contact points of the flipping switch and the pinion yoke. This ensures the engagement remains snappy and doesn't stick during high-frequency casting.
Phase 3: The Casting Train (Oil)
-
Spool Bearings: Clean the spool bearings thoroughly. Apply exactly one drop of Deuthlon Reel Oil to each race. Because the 4007LP is built for speed, a low-viscosity oil is essential to minimize start-up inertia.
-
Worm Shaft (Levelwind): Apply Deuthlon Reel Oil to the grooves of the levelwind worm shaft. Do not use grease here. Grease traps grit and slows down the oscillation; the oil ensures the line guide tracks smoothly across the spool without parasitic drag.
-
Magnetic Brake System: Ensure the Smart Mag magnets and the spool flange are clean and dry. A light wipe with an oily cloth to prevent surface oxidation is acceptable, but avoid heavy lubrication near the magnets.
Phase 4: Reassembly & Testing
-
Final Check: Slide the spool back in, reattach the palm-side plate, and secure the handle assembly.
-
Testing: Depress the thumb bar and verify the spool spins freely. Engage the flipping switch to ensure it resets the gears instantly upon handle rotation.
The combination of Deuthlon Reel Grease for the power-train and Deuthlon Reel Oil for the bearings and levelwind ensures your Ambassadeur 4007LP (14-00) remains a precision "workhorse" on the water.
