Product Description
DAM Quick 110-480 Bail Spring - SLS 5
Restore the powerful automatic bail return of your surf reel with this genuine DAM Quick Bail Spring.
The bail spring is the mechanical heart of your spinning reel's casting system, providing the energy to snap the bail wire shut the moment you turn the handle. On the massive DAM Quick SLS 5, this spring must generate substantial torque to move the heavy-duty bail arm assembly. Over time, salt corrosion or metal fatigue can cause the spring to weaken or break, leaving you with a "dead" bail that must be closed manually. This authentic replacement part restores the aggressive, reliable lock-up required for heavy surf and big game fishing.

Installation Notes
Installing the bail spring on the SLS 5 requires care due to the strong tension.
-
Remove the large bail arm screw and lift the arm away from the rotor.
-
Clear the spring cavity of any old grease, sand, or salt buildup—this is common in surf reels.
-
Insert the new 110-480 spring, ensuring the static tang seats deeply into the rotor body hole.
-
Engage the dynamic tang into the bail arm slot.
-
Rotate the arm to pre-load the tension (this may require significant force) and hold it steady while re-inserting the screw.
-
Apply a liberal amount of marine grease to the spring to protect it from saltwater intrusion.
