Following the overwhelming success of our previous idler gear kits, we decided it was time to elevate our standards even higher. Introducing the latest innovation in our lineup: the most lightweight and efficient idler gear we've ever designed!
Featuring advanced Super Porting technology, we've meticulously reduced the gear's weight by cutting away unnecessary material, all without compromising its durability and performance. This gear sets a new benchmark for lightness in its class.
Our upgraded idler gears come equipped with two high-precision ABEC 7 bearings, ensuring an exceptionally smooth and extended casting experience. They are compatible with a wide range of classic Abu round reels, from the 4000 to the 6600 series, directly replacing the original part number 5152 idler gear. However, it's important to note that this kit is not suitable for newer Abu models that require the 23404 and 23403 idler and spool gears.
The idler Gear kit includes:
- A ported idler gear, specifically designed to accommodate bearings
- Two premium stainless bearings, with the option to upgrade to ceramic hybrid bearings
- A bearing spacer for precise tuning adjustments
- A 4490 c-clip as a spare or replacement part
For guidance on removing the old idler gear and conducting a spin test, please refer to the instructional videos provided below.
Please be aware that these idler gears are not compatible with certain models, such as those in the UC series, which require the 23293 idler gear due to a different tooth profile. Additionally, older reel models do not need the spool gear included in this kit, as they use a distinct style.
