Greetngs, been a while since I've been hanging around here, too much work and other stuff. So haven't kept up with stuff.
I have a problem. I was given a Daiwa SS 700 reel, pretty good shape, but it is is in a zip-log bag unassembled. The Daiwas have been my number one spinning reels for 20 years, but even though I have two of each of the 1300, 1600 and 2600 size reels, I have never had one of them completely dissassembled. Also, there may be something that is unique to the smallest one of the range that I should know about before assembling this reel.
I am far more confortable with maintenance, repair and upgrades with baitcasters, but not so much with spinning reels.
Anyone have some advice, thoughts or suggestions?

Hio, W/One...... First-off, I'd download the schematic, after setting the printer to blow it up to fit the whole page, without the nomenclature, just the schematic. Easy to do with the PDF.
Then, I'd start grabbing parts, and circling them on the drawing. At the end, you should have all the parts circled. If not, you need to decide to either obtain the parts, or abandon the project. |

| Well, I did the schematic thing, and this is the not the first reel that i've put back together after someone took it apart and couldn't get it bcak together - one of the things I did putting my self through college several decades ago was reel repair. It's just sometimes reels have some tricks particular to the specific reel that makes the process smoother. thought that might be the case with this reel. |

Hio, W/O..... Mike has a help section off the main page of his site. You could try there.
Terry, over at the Reel Doctor in Alberta may be able to help as well.
http://www.reeldr.com He has a contact deal at his site.
Like the Joan Baez song goes: my experiance is limited and underfed, you were talking while I hid....when it comes to this model. |
