|
|
I broke my Daiwa Sealine X40HA down to clean and relive but am having issues with getting it to work. I have spent extensive time on this project and it's getting to be more of a pride thing than an economy and time issue of sending it in for repair.
My issue is with the whole drive shaft assembly. For one, when using the handle to turn the drive shaft, the Drive gear does not always engage the pinion gear. It seems the assembly that slides onto the drive gear does not put enough pressure on the drive gear up against the AR ratchet and drag washer to turn the drive gear.
The second, and possibly related issue, is that when I tighten the star dag, the handle gets harder to turn instead of the spool getting harder to turn in reverse.
I'm willing to take pictures for you to look at if it helps. All parts are in the reel and installed in the correct order. Thanks for your help. |

Nope: No definite ideas. Having never seen this reel, I can't get the image to go 3D in my head, to relate to the reel. That said:
The drag thing could be an eared washer on top of the stack, instead of a plain one. The spool thing sounds like the springs on the eccentric jack are either missing, or installed incorrectly. Or the lever isn't meshing correctly with the jack. Only guesses.
Suggest you visit Alan Tani's site. They see over 1000 times the traffic as here. At any given time there is usually well over 1000 folks on line there, instead of 1 or 2 over here. There are a couple of tutorials on earlier sloshes in the Daiwa section At Alan's place, which may prove useful.
Link is below. At present @ 12.37 am pacific/3.37 am eastern, 143 registered, and over 1000 guests are at Alan's site. Here: it's just me, and 8 "bots" from the search engines, no human guests.
