I bought a penn 9 on ebay. When I disengage the eccentric lever, the spool spins but it will still reel when I turn the handle. My other penn 9 does not do this. Is this an easy fix or should I send the reel back?

? Unsure of what you're experiancing. When you flip the lever, are you saying you have free spool, then when you put it back to cast, you still have free spool? Or ?????

No, abnormal. Sounds like you don't really have free spool at all.

Fill yer boots... Wink Wink

If you find the pinion rust-welded to the spool, remove the eccentric lever, and get the pinion and spool past the bridge that way. You'll see.

Oh yeah: Moe and crew at Penn Parts did this tutorial.

thanks a lot. I was able to dismantle the reel and clean / greese it. Seems to be working fine now.
