It's going to be fine, for a keener/home-user, who does his/her own reels.
For the trade, it's going to be a hard sell.
I did a fast web search, and it looks like many of the USA big box stores stock this item. |

I was hoping to use it for "quick" reel take-downs and touch-ups. For my musky reels, it should suffice then.
Thanks. |

Dave, I tried Simple Green once, but I was unpleased. This was back in 1997, 12 years ago. I bought the product, cut it by about 8-1, put the reel parts in the bath. Five days later, the oil and grease were still affixed.
I needed to mechanically remove the crud, by brushing, and scrubbing. That was the first and last time I used Simple Green.....reverting to time-proven Varsol, or paint thinner, whichever was cheaper by the gallon at the time. I still use either/or, based on whichever's less at the time.
These dissolve the oil and grease, with maybe just a kiss with the paint brush, to remove a heavy buildup. _________________

i hadnt thought of Varsol, is that safe to use on plastic parts in a reel as most of the bass reels i see 80% of it is plastic? |

Hi, Dave, Yes. About the only thing so far, (that I have found) that reacts badly to the varsol, would be the soft paddles on Abu handles. They get really soft, and expand to nearly double the size. _________________

The REAL Varsol, as in brand name, we used for years and years for cleaning. If you left a handle in it it expanded, but it needed to be left in for overnight or so. Only reason we changed is speed of cleaning and toxicity of the stuff _________________ "Keep it outta the water damnit!"
